Domestic Violence

Are you a victim of domestic violence or do you suspect domestic violence in your  vicinity? Take action by talking about it or by asking for advice. Also if you fear that a very stressed domestic situation may escalate.

In all cases, you can contact Veilig Thuis (Safe at Home website in Dutch) at 0800-2000. This organization advises and supports (potential) victims of domestic violence. Anonymously if this is important to you.

Are you in immediate danger? Call 112.

Code word ‘Mask 19’

All pharmacies in the Netherlands take action when someone mentions the code word ‘mask 19’. If a victim uses the code word  at the pharmacy, and is alone, the pharmacist invites them to call Veilig Thuis (Safe at Home) together in a separate room.

When the victim visits the pharmacy together with someone else, the pharmacist himself contacts Safe at Home. Reporting domestic violence through a code word at the pharmacy is already being used in a number of other countries.
