Prescription and use of medication may differ from what you are used to at home. It is best to discuss your needs with your GP and if possible, show the medicine you were on back home. You can also check whether you need a prescription for the medicine you want, by looking it up in the governmental Medicines Information Bank. If it is listed this will tell you that a medicine is only available on prescription from your GP ('huisarts') or other medical specialist (code: UA) and you will need to go to a pharmacy to get it filled. Other codes indicate that medication is available at chemists (UAD) only or is generally available (AV), e.g. also in supermarkets.
