Healthcare tailored to the needs of internationals
Welcome! Coming to a different country and not being understood as well as at home, can be hard. Especially when it comes to your health. Healthcare for internationals (H4i) Amsterdam aims to satisfy the healthcare needs of internationals.
Research done in the international community has shown that Dutch Healthcare for all its strengths does not always meet the needs and expectations of internationals. In response to these needs H4i Amsterdam has developed health care services tailored to the needs of internationals.
H4i Amsterdam - the aim
Dutch health care belongs to one of the best in the world. However, the way it functions is often quite different from other countries which may lead to misunderstanding and distress when seeking care. Language barriers, negotiating through health insurance and the differences within the Dutch Medical system are some of the challenges that Internationals face. At H4i Amsterdam we hear your concerns and aim to close this gap.
We listen
We have studied the differences in world health care systems to better understand your needs and expectations. We understand it is difficult to explain your health issues in a different language and adapt to a new system. That's why we take extra time to get to know you and understand your cultural and personal background. We also explain how to navigate Dutch Healthcare.
We take the time
To achieve this we offer the possibility for extended consultation of 20 minutes with the GP. This can especially be helpful at a first consultation. All our practices offer all their services in English.
Participating health care centers
More than 20 Health care centres and GP practices in Amsterdam are participating in H4i Amsterdam. They are currently finalizing their services and first centers will open for registration in May. They will be listed at this page.
