You need a referral
Before you start looking for a healthcare provider, you should know, that in many cases you need a referral from a General practitioner (GP) as well as a valid Health insurance. If you haven't registered with a GP or have no health insurance, check the steps you should take first.
If you have no GP yet, but have an urgent need to consult a doctor, you can contact any GP in your neighborhood.
Note: In case of a life-threatening emergency dial 112.
Freedom of provider choice
If you have registered with a GP and are looking for another Primary or Secondary Healthcare provider, please note that, although in most cases the GP will refer you to a provider, you have the freedom to choose your own provider.
You may find a suitable practice by checking out practices that cater to the needs of internationals below or, if they don't meet your needs you may go to Finding another provider. Always check if your insurance provider covers the services of your provider of choice.
Healthcare for internationals
Healthcare for internationals (H4i) is a network of Dutch healthcare providers, including mental healthcare, that are making an effort to close the gap between Dutch healthcare and the needs and expectations of internationals. These are practices that cater to the needs of internationals. They have multilingual staff, an English website and staff that is trained to better meet the needs of internationals.
Many of these practices meet the criteria of a H4i Qualified practice. Others are preparing for this.
Below you'll find an overview by type of service provided. We do not yet have network members in all regions, but we provide information on how to find healthcare services in other regions or if you cannot find an H4i provider that meets your needs.
